Pussy Riot appropriated again, this time by Vanessa Hudgens

I've written before, both here and on Osocio, about the appropriation of anarcho-feminist group Pussy Riot's knitted balaclava brand. Here's the latest sighting, from former Disney star Vanessa Hudgens'  '$$$ex' Teaser Video (via Huffington Post):

They didn't even bother to change the colour from the Blush lingerie campaign:

By all accounts, the former child actress is trying to shed her innocent image in the new Spring Breakers movie. It's a complete reversal from her concern for her younger image when she had her nude photo scandal six years ago. But careers evolve. It's just too bad she had to "borrow" so shamelessly this time, from women who are currently suffering for standing up for their independence.

F'd Ad Fridays: Brought to you by the people against teen sex

Ah, the virgin/whore conundrum. Where would American culture be without it?

Candies, the people who brought you Bristol Palin's awful "don't get teen preggers like me!" ad would like you to know that teenage sex is bad mmm'kay? But having a former Disney teen star (known for her full-frontal sexting shenanigans) strip down to her gitch to sell underwear is just peachy keen.

(Flash only, sorry)

Well isn't that special?

Fighting Cancer: The Next Generation

Here's an age test for you. Watch this new cancer awareness PSA, and see how many young, up-and-coming TV and movie stars can you can recognize and name:

According to MTV, they are: Zachary Levi, Kristen Bell, Vanessa Hudgens, Logan Lerman, Andrew Garfield, Naya Rivera, Dakota Fanning, Zac Efron, Donald Faison, Jon Heder, Olivia Munn, Sofia Vassilieva, Clark Duke, William Moseley, Aubrey Plaza and Aaron Yoo. (Don't worry, I only got two by sight. Now get off my lawn!)

The Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) campaign aims to educate youth about the high likelihood that they will be diagnosed with some type of cancer during their lives, and makes an appeal to raise funds to fight those odds.

This PSA will be broadcast on September 10 during a one-hour broadcast fundraising event that will be simulcast on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, HBO, Discovery Health, E!, MLB Network, The Style Network, VH1, HBO Latino, Showtime, TV One, and G4.
