Is this "anti-fashion" or same old sex in advertising?

At a fashion show, three models (Melissa George, Chloe Hayward and Elettra Wiedermann) rebel against a pretentious  male fashion designer's backstage machinations to control their bodies, and prance out onto the catwalk in their underwear. They are also free to give into their highly-fetishized lesbian desires:

What, you expected feminism from Agent Provocateur?

This full-length music video was written and directed by John Cameron Mitchell. The song is by The Motels.

F'd Ad Fridays: Boyfriend forgot Valentines? Sexually assault him!

This video by the always-classy Agent Provocateur manages to insult man and women alike. I guess that's sort-of equal opportunity.

That said, imagine the scene with the roles reversed.

Mother Nature resists automotive sponsorship — with a vengeance

Mark sent me a sad story of PR gone horribly wrong.

In Germany, Mini Deutschland paid the Institute for Meteorology at the Free University in Berlin the standard €199 "Adopt-a-Vortex" fee to have in incoming cold front named "Cooper". The agency, Sassenbach, had said they wanted a wind- and weather-proof idea" to promote the soft top Mini Roadster

I assume this was supposed to be ironic. But the real (and very sad) irony began when Cooper started killing people:

Also note unfortunate Expedia headline.

BBC reports:

"In a statement, the carmaker said it could not influence exactly when names for weather fronts would be used, or what a weather system would do.
It said it deeply regretted that the weather front had taken on 'catastrophic proportions' and claimed so many lives."
In other news, Mother Nature hates cars.

F'd Ad Fridays: Agent Provocateur says "Boo(bs)" in much, much scarier horror flick

What is this? I don't even...

Axe never had a chance. While the spray-on teen angst brand has a sene of humour, AP just goes straight for the lesploitation, excessive skin, S&M, cannibalism, and just plain weird.

Agent Provocateur provokes... the 99%?

I haven't really touched on the Occupy Wall Street movement in here, because its politics are complicated and many others do a better job of covering it than I would.

But as the civil disobedience continues to mount, and the wealthy themselves are being directly blamed, you can leave it to the fashion industry to continue marketing luxury goods using ultra-decadence as an aspirational branding strategy.

This Agent Provocateur video [contains sexualized nudity, via Animal NY] is a perfect example.

Pretentious, debauched and out-of-touch with reality, it makes me wonder if this was what it felt like to be a Roman noble during the bread riots.

"Satyri...what? I thought we were doing Kubrick!"

Lingerie campaign makes fun of women celebrities who "forget" to wear underpants

In an era in which celebrity women no longer appear to wear underpants, what is a high-end lingerie manufacturer to do?

In the case of Agent Provocateur, you release a saucy video (ironically featuring malfunction queen Paz de la Huerta) showing that having "wardrobe malfunctions" in non-commando mode is preferable when paparazzi are present:

Sure, while the models exude confidence it's still brazenly sexualized. But still somewhat classier than being constantly reminded (via the trash press) of Paris, Britney or Lindsay's intimate depilation regimes.
