This rather bombastic teen abstinence PSA is brought to you by faith-based NGO Centerstone, who among their strategies for delaying sex suggest saying to a partner, "Let’s talk about some sexual activities that are OK for both of us".
Oh, that one's as old as the hills. |
From their website: "Sexual things are OK, but no sexual intercourse of any kind" (which they have previously made clear also includes oral sex).
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure how that perspective makes sense, to be honest. If you're approaching it from an "I'm okay with premarital sex and want to have sex at some point, just not right now," then sure, but if you're going at it from a religious perspective...the general consensus is that there's a limit to how far you can go without ending up going farther, and it seems silly to assume teenagers can do "sexual things" and not end up having sex eventually.
(And that's why some very religious people go so far as to ban kissing.)
