MAC hires woman body builder to model "Strength"

Jezebel loves this. I think it's powerful advertising, in that it's eye-catching and on-message.

The woman in the ad is Jelena Abbou. And yes, "they" are real. Jezebel's Jenna Sauers points out that this ad is going against common perceptions of heavily-muscled women as seeming less feminine. I think that's a good point. But on the other hand, if the nearly-impossibly thin model ideal were to be replaced with a nearly-impossibly fit one, will the average woman be any happier?

Nevertheless, they have my attention.

Playboy celebrates getting caught looking at porn

Because, hey! Who wouldn't rather look at heavily photoshopped wannabe actresses' naked bodies rather than spending time with loved ones...

Or working...

Or doing nothing at all?

Clever idea, but it makes me kind of sad for the target audience.

For Playboy's Spanish "TV" web site, by Y&R Argentina. (You wonder if they ever get any work done down there.)

Note that, once again, all creative teams assume everyone owns a Mac.

Anti-merger AT&T/T-Mobile parody ads: perhaps truth, but poorly told

Via savetheinternet.com, this series of ads simultaneously parody T-Mobile ads and the Mac series that inspired them to protest the AT&T/T-Mobile merger:

Cute writing, but the subpar acting (especially by the men) really detracts from the serious message, which is all about the threats to jobs, innovation, competitive pricing and even free speech posed by a telecom monopoly.

Plus, the faux T-Mobile woman is no substitute for the sparkle of Canada's own Carly Foulkes...
