Internet creates the "nude" Natalie Portman ad fans were hoping for

It's fake, according to Fashionista, even though the Daily Mail was completely taken in by it.

Every time a famous woman gets "nude" for a campaign, it makes headlines. Even if the only skin you end up seeing wouldn't make you look twice at the beach.

Here's the real ad:

There's also this:

Look, she's a stunning woman. And she has done this kind of posing for Dior before. It's not really big news — it's just the more sophisticated end of sex in advertising.

Perhaps that's why some photoshopper felt the need to make it more lurid.

Ms. Portman didn't do it all for money and vanity, however. As part of her modelling deal she chose one of Dior's eight new lip colours, "Grege #169", for a CSR program in which all proceeds will go to Free the Children. She's their face too.

Lanvin joins the mature model trend

(Sorry for two weeks of absence, dear readers. I was on vacation.)

I wrote recently about American Apparel's refreshing change from barely legal, semi-pornographic ads, with the introduction of 60-year-old model Jacky O’Shaughnessy in their "Advanced Basics" campaign.

Now, Paris fashion house Lanvin has included 82-year-old Jacqueline Murdock in its campaign for the women's winter line.

Shot by Steven Meisel, Ms.  Murdock is a former Apollo Theatre dancer who had always dreamed of being a model. But, she told Fashionista, "The opportunity was not there at my time for women of color."

American Apparel enters a silver age

Fashionista posted this recent American Apparel ad, featuring "Jacky", a model who is not only fully clothed but also appears to be over the age of 20.

Okay, she's still offering her crotch to the world, but they have a brand to think about here!

UPDATE: More from Jacky at Fashionista

How not to get people to look at your hats #FdAdFriday

Fashionista asked Welsh milliner Robyn Coles why she premiered her new hat collection at London Fashion Week using nude models (including a pregnant woman).

The response was refreshing:
"It’s a basic, honest publicity scam! As a new designer I want to get people to see my work and now. I hope that people who look at the show like the light-hearted choice of nudity, appreciate the different forms of the human body and above all – like my work. It was about getting as many people there as possible."
Although her claim that nude pregnant models is something you never see on the catwalk is a little off. Has she never seen Prêt-à-Porter?

You can see all the models, male and female, at the Fashionista link.

(As a straight man, I feel honour bound to add a naked penis warning to my fellow uptight lads.)

Stealth sex toys for women seem like a great idea, at first

Fashionista reports that adult toy manufacturer Screaming O has developed a line of intimate products designed to look like an ordinary makeup kit:
"Called the Studio Collection, the line includes a lipstick, makeup brush, and mascara, as well as two balms–one warming and one cooling–that look like eye shadow. The collection is rounded out by a “Sexy Secret Compact” containing an itty bitty little vibe hidden in a secret compartment. I sat at a table in a public restaurant viewing these products with company reps and can report that no one blinked an eye or looked at me in horror. They really look like makeup."
They mention the story of how one woman blogger had her privacy violated by TSA luggage inspectors who found a vibrator in her checked bag and left her a saucy note.

While these stealth items might avoid embarrassment when a woman accidentally dumps her purse, as a frequent flyer I would not recommend my female readers go through airport security with a mysterious electronic device cleverly hidden in a compact. Not unless you want to have a lot of 'splainin to do.

Terry Richardson + Olsen Twins = Creepy?

The Olsen Twins, who I recall as TV babies, are 25 now. So I guess there's nothing particularly unusual about them doing a highly-sexualized photoshoot for skeevy photog Terry Richardson.

(Flash only, sorry)

But given Richardson's alleged "thing" for  young models (Jamie Peck, who he photographed at age 19, commented "of all the fine folks I've frolicked au naturel for, he's the only one who's left me feeling like I needed to take two showers") the creep factor is cranked a little higher on this one.

The dark-haired model, by the way, is 20-year-old Argentinian Tatiana "Tati" Cotliar.
